Introduction
Most people who quit vinyl quit during setup. You buy the deck, you buy the cartridge, you spend an evening with a protractor and a set of tiny screws, and by the time the first record plays you have already decided this hobby is admin. The RP-2000 MK4 removes that evening.
Reloop announced it on 17 August 2026 as the entry point to its turntable range. It ships with a genuine Ortofon OM Black system pre-mounted on the headshell, so the deck plays the moment it is on the table and connected to a phono input. Around that sits a quartz-controlled brushless motor with over 1.0 kgf/cm of torque, a statically balanced S-shaped tonearm with a universal SME mount, and a reinforced chassis on shock-absorbing feet.
Where it doesn't stretch: this is a learning deck, not a battle deck. The pitch fader gives you ±8% with a centre detent and nothing wider, and the dust cover you can see in the photos is sold separately.
Key Features & Benefits
- Play the first record in minutes: the Ortofon OM Black cartridge is fitted and aligned at the factory, so there's no alignment protractor stage.
- Start times you can cue against: quartz-controlled direct drive with more than 1.0 kgf/cm of torque reaches full speed in under a second.
- Learn beatmatching without guessing centre: the ±8% pitch fader has a centre click, so zero is a thing you can feel.
- Track records gently: statically balanced S-shaped arm with hydraulic lift, adjustable anti-skating and a universal SME headshell mount you can upgrade later.
- Cue in the dark: pop-up stylus target light for dim rooms and unlit booths.
- Keep the bass out of the needle: reinforced heavy chassis on isolation feet, which matters when the deck sits next to the speakers.
- Two finishes: Black or Silver, same price.
Real-World Reactions
“For a beginner in 2026, it's a notable step up from the awful lightweight Soundlab belt drive turntables that my generation learned on. For home use and smaller gigs, it looks perfectly capable.”
Phil Morse, Digital DJ Tips
That is roughly where we'd put it too. Nobody is scratching a set on this for a living, but the gap between a real direct drive with a real cartridge and the €150 belt-drive shelf is enormous, and this is the cheapest honest way across it.

Who It's For
- First-time DJs who want a direct drive rather than a belt drive, without a cartridge shopping trip
- Vinyl listeners who also want to mix occasionally and need a deck that does both
- Anyone building a two-deck setup on a budget, or adding a second deck to one they already own
Who should look elsewhere:
- Turntablists. Scratch work wants high torque and wider pitch, which means the RP-7000 or RP-8000 end of the range.
- Listeners with an amplifier that has no phono input. There's no built-in preamp here, so you'd need an external one or a deck that includes it.

Final Thoughts
The MK4 doesn't reinvent the RP-2000, and it doesn't need to. What Reloop has done is remove the two things that stop people finishing the purchase: the cartridge decision and the setup evening. At €349 with an Ortofon already tracking, this is the shortest distance between wanting to play records and playing them.
